Exhibition Report: Prestatyn Model Railway Exhibition 2024

Colwyn Model Railway Club attended the first exhibition hosted by Rhyl & District Model Railway Club since the Pandemic in Prestatyn on Saturday 29th June 2024.

The club exhibited its 009 layout Ddraig Gwarel which depicts a fictional narrow gauge quarry railway set in North Wales. The layout ran well all day, and visitors were treated to a variety of model locomotives, many of which can be seen operating across the Narrow Gauge railways of the region. The poor weather didn’t dampen spirits, with many visitors to the layout commenting on the high standard of modelling on show, and being impressed with the possibilities of 009 in a relatively compact space.

Away from Ddraig Gwarel, Colwyn MRC was also represented by Norman Beaumont who exhibited his ‘Trix Twin’ layout. Norman was in good company, with a broad range of fantastic layouts on display in all sizes and scales, and many of our team went home with purchases from the traders attending. A big thank you to the Rhyl club for their organisation, invite and ensuring the smooth running of the day.

A big thank you must also go to Colwyn members Merfyn, John, Warren, Phil, Mike, Keith and Matt for helping out throughout the day and we look forward to exhibiting again soon.
